A letter from Lansing Elementary School’s principal, Karen Hart, was sent to parents today warning them to be aware of a man who sexually assaulted a student by posing as a doctor.

The sexual assault happened at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the student’s home near the Aurora school.

The elementary-aged girl let the man into the home after he told her he was a doctor and needed to examine her for “immigration” purposes. Her parents, who are legal immigrants, were not at home.

According to the principal’s letter the man had contacted and approached the student and a sibling at their home.

The letter states that police say the man may have been around the school “as far back as Sept. 15” and as recently as Tuesday.

The letter advises parents to talk to their children about safety, including telling them not to answer the door if they are home alone, and advising them to walk straight home and straight to school, with a friend or sibling if possible.

The letter also asks parents to tell their children always to let someone know if a stranger has contacted them and they feel concerned or uncomfortable.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 40 and 50, with blue eyes and a moustache. He is over 6 feet tall with a thin build and white or light blondish curly hair. He was also described as smelling strongly of cigarettes.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit at (303) 739-6155.
