GREELEY, Colo.—A 23-year-old Thornton man accused of causing a head-on crash that killed a mother and her baby has been charged.

Weld County prosecutors filed eight criminal counts against Steven Ryan on Friday. The most serious are two counts of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence.

Police allege that Ryan passed another car Monday in a no-passing zone west of Fort Lupton and caused the collision that killed 23-year-old Tanya Guevara, and her 1-month old baby Adrian. Her three-year-old child was also in the car but survived.

Ryan was being held on $75,000 and is due in court Nov. 10 to be advised of the charges.
