DENVER—C&G Health Care Management based in Mancos has submitted the winning $3.9 million bid to privatize the Trinidad State Nursing Home, after Las Animas County voters rejected a referendum Tuesday to bid on it.

State legislators last year authorized the sale of the nursing home, which had an operating deficit of more than $3 million over the past decade.

Ownership of the home was supposed to revert to Trinidad State Junior College if it wasn’t run by the state anymore, but the Colorado Community College System agreed to sell the deed to the Colorado Department of Human Services for $2 million.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that proceeds from the sale will pay for that sum, transitional costs and a state veterans nursing home fund.
