DENVER—A Pacific storm system is dumping snow in the Colorado mountains and bringing the first snow of the season to parts of the Denver area.
Snow and ice are making driving troublesome in the mountains. A jackknifed truck closed Interstate 70 for a while Tuesday and other roads in the mountains were temporarily shut down because of bad weather.
Parts of the western mountains could get a foot of snow overnight and parts of the Denver area, particularly in the south, could see up to 4 inches accumulate in the grassy areas.
The temperatures dropped into the 40s in the metro area Tuesday after hitting the 70s Monday.
Snow is expected to taper off Tuesday night as the storm system moves east across Colorado and out of the state.
