The Humane Society of Boulder Valley has won first place and $100,000 from The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in a nationwide pet adoption contest.
Boulder Humane is one of 50 shelters across the country competing to see which could place the most homeless animals over a three-month period starting Aug. 1.
The Larimer Humane Society was the only other competitor from Colorado.
Boulder Humane’s winning effort involved a vigorous campaign with multiple components, which resulted in the top gain in adoptions from the same three-month period in 2009.
Their effort was made during a time that Boulder Humane also focused its resources on helping victims of the Four Mile Canyon wildfire.
