Copper Mountain Trail Groomer Dies in One-Car Crash
A 33-year-old Leadville man was killed in a single-vehicle accidentSaturday afternoon on Colorado 91 south of Copper Mountain in Summit County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The man was identified as Mark L. Mortimer, a trail groomer at Copper Mountain Resort, according Summit County coroner Joanne Richardson.
No one else was in the vehicle involved in the rollover accident, which occurred about 2 p.m., said Cpl. Philip Gurley.
Mortimer was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Gurley said. He added that there was evidence that alcohol may have been a factor in causing the crash.
Man reportedly tries to lure teen into his truck
Boulder County authorities are trying to identify a man who attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl into his red pickup Friday afternoon.
The man stopped west of Arapahoe Road and 95th Street at 4 p.m. and tried to coax the girl into his truck, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The suspect was described as a white male in his mid-40s, with balding brown hair, brown eyes, a stubbly beard and wearing a gray, long-sleeved shirt.
He was driving a red, older model, full-size pickup truck with a red bumper and grill. There was a blue stripe on the lower half of the pickup. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 303-441-4444.
Ranger district open for tree cutting. Saturday marked the first chance for Coloradans to fill their living rooms with the scent of a freshly cut Christmas tree from the Canyon Lakes Ranger District.
The area, near Red Feather Lakes, requires a $10 permit to cut a tree. The permits are available at the Canyon Lakes Ranger District office in Fort Collins, the Pawnee National Grassland office in Greeley, the Boulder Ranger District office in Boulder, and at the cutting site on weekends. Tree-hunters must bring their own tools to cut the trees, and no chain saws are allowed.
The area will be open for tree-cutting daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m through Dec. 12.
TCF Bank branch downtown robbed
Police are searching for a man who robbed a downtown TCF Bank at 12:12 p.m. Saturday.
Little information was available about the robbery at 640 16th St. except that the suspect did not have a weapon, police said.
