A 19-year-old man is facing three felonies after pulling a gun — later determined to be a BB gun — on Greeley police officers last week, prosecutors said Monday.

The Greeley Tribune previously reported that Jordon Tapia had fought with his girlfriend over their 2-year-old son last Wednesday night.

When police arrived Tapia allegedly threatened them with the pellet gun, which resembled a Glock pistol, according to authorities

Police shot Tapia with non-lethal beanbags and arrested him. He was not seriously injured, according to authorities.

Tapia reportedly told police he wanted them to shoot him.

He was arrested and booked into the Weld County Jail, where he remains on $60,000 bond on charges of felony menacing, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and underage consumption of alcohol.

Records show Tapia has previously been arrested on traffic and alcohol offenses and is listed as a habitual offender.

The incident happened two days after the funeral in Greeley for Sam Brownlee, the Weld County Sheriff’s deputy who was shot by a suspect on Nov. 23.

Reuben Reyes, 20, was then shot and killed by police.
