A prison guard who believed he was about to meet an underage teenager for sex has been arrested by the Jefferson County district attorney’s office in the investigation of Internet luring of a child and attempted sexual assault. The man was identified as Arthur Frank Stafford, 59, a guard at the Sterling Correctional Facility.

According to an arrest affidavit, Stafford contacted Jefferson County District Attorney investigator Mike Harris, who was posing online as an underage teenage female, on Nov. 4. In the course of the next few weeks, Stafford allegedly sent pictures of male genitalia and asked for sexually graphic photos.

Harris said that between Nov. 8 and Dec. 5, Stafford communicated numerous times about meeting for sex. He said he would come and pick up the teen behind a Village Inn restaurant in Wheat Ridge the morning of Dec. 5. According to the arrest affidavit, Stafford said he would want a kiss from the teen as she got into his truck, and that he and the teen would then go to a motel. He said he would have to pretend to be her grandfather. Howard Pankratz, The Denver Post
