LOS ANGELES — Lakers center Andrew Bynum completed his first full practice since undergoing knee surgery in July, the latest step in a comeback that might be complete next week.

“No pain, no symptoms,” he said Monday. “I just want to get a couple more practices in, keep working on timing and just come back.

“For me, it’s like my first training camp. I’m excited. Everybody else is kind of like, ugh . . .”

Bynum didn’t commit to a specific date for his return.

Stern confirms NBA takeover

NEW ORLEANS — The NBA’s decision to buy the Hornets gives Louisiana the best opportunity to hold onto the franchise that moved there in 2002, league commissioner David Stern said.

Stern confirmed the league is proceeding with a plan to buy the club from majority owner George Shinn and minority partner Gary Chouest, making the Hornets the first NBA-owned team.

If the NBA had done nothing, Stern said, Shinn might have been inclined to take the next good offer he got, even if it came from a buyer who planned to move the team.

Cook, Miller suspended

NEW YORK — The NBA suspended Clippers forward Brian Cook for two games and Trail Blazers guard Andre Miller for one after a rough conclusion to Portland’s 100-91 victory Sunday.

Cook was whistled for a flagrant foul and ejected after shoving Joel Przybilla in the chest as Przybilla went up for a layup at the end of the third quarter.

Miller was suspended for “making excessive and unnecessary contact” with Blake Griffin of the Clippers with 7:06 left in the fourth.
