Figuratively speaking, Vail Resorts understands all too well the calm before the storm. With schools in session and the full holiday season still a few weeks away, ski vacations remain on hold for most folks. And that’s exactly why they’re sweetening the deal this week with the return of the annual Snow Daze Celebration in Vail.

Beginning with Thursday’s Dummy Demolition Derby (and free chili) under the lights of Golden Peak and continuing through Sunday night’s free concert, featuring Weezer, at Ford Park (local favorites Bonfire Dub open the show at 4:30 p.m.), the almost all-free event brings in a wide array of entertainers to complement your ski day.

Included among them is Dwight Yoakam performing free at Ford Park on Friday at 7 p.m., O.A.R. at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and a street party Thursday featuring Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys after the Dummy Demolition.
