The is a throwback space in more ways than one. Not only is the new Capitol Hill club decked out in glittery ’60s beauty parlor goodness, but itap also the home of Denver’s hottest throwback DJ nights — revisiting the glory days of the influential Snake Pit, which used to rock out in the space that is currently Beauty Bar.

The renovated club will host three high-profile reunions in the next two months, and so, dear friends, get out your calendars. These reunions are about more than just shaking your ass. They’re about reconnecting with friends and frenemies — some of whom you haven’t seen since the last time these DJs played on 13th Street.

“Itap fun to get people together, and itap also great to get people down here who were never exposed to these nights in the first place,” said Mike Barnhart, a co-owner of the Beauty Bar’s Denver location at 608 E. 13th Ave. “On a selfish note, these parties were also the era when we all started going out in Denver. So itap fun for us, too.”

The three reunions on the club’s schedule:

Skunk Motel: One of Denver’ most infamous dance parties will return on Dec. 27 — yes, a Monday night, just like the old days. Itap been a while since DJ Skunk, a.k.a. Evan Nelson, brought the beats, so it should be a special post-Christmas, pre-New Year’s Eve night.

Shag: Remember the good ol’ days of Shag — with Tim Garvey and David Watts playing the records and J.R. Spiegel slingin’ the drinks? Even if you don’t remember, this reunion — on Dec. 23 with guests Tyler “Danger” Jacobson and DJ Quid – will bring it all back. Spiegel (of the Volts) will even be there, emceeing instead of bartending.

She-Bop: We were lucky enough to catch the She-Bop reunion in October. And if the Valentine’s Day edition (on Feb. 12) is anything like that night, then it’ll feel like a drunken love-in of a class reunion — where only your friends show up.
