DENVER—A 34-year-old Grand Junction woman has pleaded guilty to an investment fraud scheme that federal authorities say involved millions of dollars.
Shawnee Carver pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit securities and mail fraud. She faces up to five years in prison when she and Philip Lochmiller Jr. are sentenced April 22 for their roles in Valley Investments.
Lochmiller pleaded guilty last month to charges that included money laundering.
Philip Lochmiller Sr. was also indicted.
Authorities say Carver, hired by the Lochmillers in 2005, assured investors that Valley Investments was doing well even though she knew that real estate supposed to secure the investments was already encumbered.
