Men’s soccer stars Tesho Akindele and Chike Sullivan of Colorado Mines and Steven Emory of Metro State have earned their second All-America selections of the season. They were named to the NSCAA first team Saturday after receiving the same recognition from Daktronics about a week earlier.

Emory is a senior midfielder for the Roadrunners, but the Orediggers get Sullivan, a junior midfielder, and Akindele, a freshman forward, back next season.

Nathan Kafer, a senior forward for Regis, made the NSCAA second team, and teammate Gary Cole made the third-team defense. Colorado Mines sophomore goalkeeper Manville Strand and Fort Lewis junior defenseman Fabian Kling made the third team.

Former Univer- sity of Denver golfer Stephanie Sherlock shot a 68 in Saturday’s qualifying round and moved into position to earn her LPGA Tour card for 2011.

Sherlock moved from a tie for 53rd into a tie for 27th at 2-over-par 290. The top 20 after today’s final round earn full exemptions for next season. Two other former Pioneers survived Saturday’s cut but will have to move up. Kimberly Kim (73—292) is in a tie for 37th, and Katie Kempter (78—296) is in a tie for 61st.

Alison Whitaker, a 24-year-old Australian who moved to Denver this year, shot a 71 and is one stroke behind Kim at 293.
