GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Two Western Slope politicians who lost bids for re-election in November are seeking posts within the administration of Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper.

The Daily Sentinel reports Garfield County Commissioner Tresi Houpt has applied to be director of the Department of Local Affairs.

State Rep. Kathleen Curry of Gunnison says she would be interested in being agriculture commissioner or director of the Department of Natural Resources, if Hickenlooper decides to appoint new people to those posts.

The Daily Sentinel reports Curry also has expressed interest in serving on the Public Utilities Commission, in natural resources as assistant director for water, or as director of the Colorado Interbasin Compact Committee.
