Debris from the scene of a hit-and-run at Peña Boulevard and Chambers Road on Thursday has given police an idea what car they are looking for.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Lt. Chuck DeShazer said debris from the accident that injured Keino Taylor, 39, suggests that the suspect vehicle is an older model Honda Accord or Civic. It may be blue-green or teal, DeShazer said.
Police said Taylor was helping a friend move a broken-down sport utility vehicle on Peña Boulevard when a vehicle sideswiped the SUV and struck Taylor, partially amputating his left leg.
Taylor told police he recalls trying to jump out of the way of the car and next remembers being on the ground with paramedics looming over him. Doctors performed one surgery on Taylor’s leg but have told him he will need more surgeries in the coming days.
DeShazer said the Accord or Civic will have right-front-side damage but may also have side- swipe damage and silver paint transfer from the SUV it hit. The car will also be missing its passenger-side door mirror and its right-front hubcap.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Joe Petrucelli at 303-739-6924.
