The Vikings played outdoors Monday night in Minnesota for the first time in exactly 29 years, when they played their final game at Metropolitan Stadium in 1981.

The crowd braving the snow and cold at TCF Bank Stadium — home of the University of Minnesota’s football team — got to see Brett Favre make an unexpected start after being ruled out for the game.

A week after his consecutive- games streak ended at 297, the 41-year-old led the Vikings to a touchdown on their first drive.

But Favre was knocked out of the game with a head injury in the second quarter and Chicago rolled 40-14 — thanks in part to Devin Hester’s record TD return — to clinch the NFC North Division.
