A semi-truck driver from Colorado was hit and killed by a car while he was trying to help the victims of a rollover crash in Utah on Saturday.

Utah State Patrol told KSL in Salt Lake City a Mitsubishi SUV hydroplaned on Interstate 15 in Washington County, Utah, when it slid off the road, rolled several times and ran into large boulders, which then sent the car at least eight feet into the air. Troopers say the SUV landed upside down in some trees and boulders.

Shannon Taylor, a 42-year-old man from Northglenn, helped rescue a man and woman from the SUV, KSL reports. They say while Taylor was helping the man and woman, a Volkswagen hydroplaned off the highway and hit them, killing Taylor and injuring the man and the woman.

KSL reports the woman in the SUV was critically injured and the man later died.

The driver of the Volkswagen is reported to have no injuries, and his passenger was treated and released from a local hospital.
