A woman was severely burned Sunday in what Colorado Springs firefighters suspect was a flash explosion of propane gas that was ignited inside an apartment at a North Nevada Avenue motel.
Firefighters received a call of a possible fire and explosion involving propane gas at the Skylark Apartment, 3830 N. Nevada Ave., at 5:20 p.m., said fire spokesman Lt. Kriss Soppe.
When firefighters arrived four minutes later, they saw light smoke coming from one of the apartments, but no flames, Soppe said.
There were four people inside the apartment at the time of the explosion. A man was treated and released at the apartment. The woman who was burned was flown to a Denver hospital with burns to her body and her face. Her identity has not been released.
