An 18-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound died at an Aurora hospital Wednesday night after being taken there by an “acquaintance,” police said Thursday.

Aurora police were called about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to University of Colorado Hospital on a report of a man who had been shot, according to the Aurora Police Department.

The victim later died at the hospital.

Officers “recovered a vehicle in the parking lot that was believed to have been involved” in the case, police said in a news release.

Officers questioned the driver of the vehicle and released him from custody.

Investigators think the man’s death is related to a report of shots fired about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Lansing Street.

No arrests have been made. The victim’s name was not released.
