NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Titans tight end Bo Scaife doesn’t know if talking about a possibly divided locker room got him benched. That also isn’t stopping him from talking about what could be his final days with the franchise.
“My gut feeling tells me just to not worry about that and get these next two games over with, and then we’ll see,” Scaife said. “I’ve enjoyed my time here. I love being a Titan.”
Scaife, a Mullen High graduate, has been playing on a year-to-year basis with Tennessee the past few seasons. The Titans tabbed him as their franchise player in 2009 for a salary of $4.46 million and took advantage of the league’s labor deal allowing them to offer him a one- year tender for $4.9 million this year.
Scaife played in college at Texas with quarterback Vince Young. Last week he told a reporter he thought support in Tennessee’s locker room might be divided between Young and coach Jeff Fisher. Then the Titans benched him against Houston.
• Three Indianapolis Colts defensive players, cornerback Kelvin Hayden, linebacker Clint Session and defensive tackle Daniel Muir will not play today against the Oakland Raiders.
• The Washington Redskins have signed safety Sha’reff Rashad and defensive lineman Joe Joseph to their active roster.
Hot ticket: 2012 London Games
LONDON — London 2012 organizers say 2 million people have registered for tickets to the Olympics.
When tickets go on sale in March, 8.8 million seats will be available at prices ranging from $31 for standard events to a symbolic 2,012 pounds ($3,105) for the top-priced seats at the opening ceremony.
Organizers are trying to raise nearly $700 million from ticket sales, a quarter of their operating budget.
London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton says data from the 2 million registered people shows that “by and large more females than males” have signed up and many are opting to try to see several events. Deighton expects another 500,000 people to register for tickets by March.
Golden Panthers’ first bowl trip
DETROIT — Three years ago, one victory was cause for celebration at Florida International. Now, the Golden Panthers are enjoying something much more impressive — a trip to a bowl.
“It’s really one of the best stories in college football,” FIU coach Mario Cristobal said. “And I’d be saying it if it wasn’t our team.”
Three seasons after ending a 23-game losing streak, FIU will play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl tonight against Toledo. It’s the first bowl appearance for the program.
