PUEBLO, Colo.—Two campgrounds at Lake Pueblo State Park will close starting next month during work to improve the park’s drinking water system.

The Juniper Breaks Campground and Northern Plains Campground will close Jan. 3 to all users, including hikers and bicyclists, because of safety concerns.

Park manager Brad Henley tells The Pueblo Chieftain that park officials want to protect visitors during construction, when there will be open trenches and heavy equipment in the campgrounds each day.

The Arkansas Point Campground on the south side of the park will remain open.
