The world can be a crazy place. But for one magical night every December, the frantic pace slows, assorted worries and woes are put on hold and families gather at the Brown Palace Hotel to have fun at the Denver Debutante Ball.
For 55 years, this benefit for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra has been a living history lesson, a night of celebration where the families that have made Colorado such a great place to live encourage the next generation of female leaders by giving public recognition to their accomplishments in a ceremony that also gives a nod to their parents and grandparents.
Twenty young ladies were presented this year: Caroline Clair Ammons, Jules Broz, Vivian Brooks Carlson, Caitlin Pharis Clark, Emily Suzanne Clinton, Kathleen Theresa Crowley, Kathleen Margaret Dermody, Kaylin Kay Dines, Chapin Banks Duke; Virginia Paige Duke; Avery Isabella Paez Duncan; Sarah Stuart Emery; Tenney Hearst Espy, Sydney Elizabeth Ford; Laura Grace Gilbert; Morgan McKnight Jolliffe; Bethany Josephine Koelbel; Bailey Anne McHugh; Lindsay Gerte Laughlin O’Neal; and Mary Dawson Rassenfoss.
They were introduced by master of ceremonies Newell Grant and curtsied to a receiving line made up of ball chair Dawn Fulenwider Wood; Willis Alexander Wood; Judy Grant and son Newell McIntyre Grant Jr.; Nancy Anschutz; Philip Frederick Anschutz; Betty Lynn Jackson and Dennis Miles Jackson.
