A grand jury will convene to investigate the death of Stephanie Roller, the 41-year-old Silverthorne mom whose body was found in the Blue River on Nov. 26, Summit County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said Wednesday.
Hurlbert and Silverthorne Police Chief Mark Hanschmidt also have named Roller’s husband, Dale Bruner, “as the key suspect in the case,” they said in a news release.
Bruner reported Roller missing Nov. 23, telling police his wife had walked away from their home about 10 the night before. Her body was found three days later in the Blue River not far from the house.
Preliminary results from an autopsy showed Roller, 41, died from a combination of blunt-force trauma and drowning.
Reached by phone Wednesday, Bruner said he was stunned to learn he had been named the key suspect.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it,” he said. “I do not have a comment.”
