GREELEY, Colo.—A suspected gang member was sentenced to 176 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a witness in a murder case and then trying to hire a hit man to kill her.
The Greeley Tribune reports that 22-year-old Christian Hanson yelled gang slurs after his sentencing Thursday while he was handcuffed and led away from court. A jury convicted Hanson in November on six charges that included second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder solicitation.
Prosecutors say the woman Hanson kidnapped was a witness in a murder trial and Hanson was trying to prevent her from testifying. Authorities say when Hanson was in jail for the kidnapping and rape he tried to arrange for the woman to be killed.
