MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Jason Jones scored 21 points Saturday night, helping Middle Tennessee State overcome poor team shooting in a 59-49 victory over the University of Denver.
The Blue Raiders (9-11, 4-3 Sun Belt) trailed 31-28 with 15:25 left in the second half, but a 15-2 run put Middle Tennessee in front 43-33 with 10:39 to play.
Middle Tennessee shot just 37.7 percent from the field (20-of-53) compared with 53.3 percent (16-of-30) for the Pioneers (10-10, 6-1). But the Blue Raiders scored 22 points off 20 turnovers by DU to maintain their lead.
Chase Hallam scored 17 points for the Pioneers, whose eight-game winning streak ended.
N. Colorado 65, Weber St. 46
GREELEY — Elliott Lloyd scored 16 points as Northern Colorado ran its winning streak to seven.
Chris Kaba and Neal Kingman added 12 points apiece for the Bears (11-7, 7-0 Big Sky), who made 9-of-23 from 3-point range. Lloyd also had six assists.
Northern Colorado built a 43-20 halftime lead.

ALAMOSA — The Grizzlies (13-3, 10-3 RMAC) took the lead for good at 49-47 with 4:04 left on Jamiko Verner’s layup. Quaran Johnson scored 16 points for Metro State (14-3, 11-2). Jack Osborn had 14 points for ASC.

GRAND JUNCTION — The Cougars (5-11, 4-9 RMAC) engineered a 41-point turnaround, with a dominant 41-15 throttling of the Mavericks (11-6, 7-6) in the second half. Abram Ziemer led CC with 16 points.

DURANGO — Matt Billups scored 15 points for the Skyhawks (14-3, 10-3 RMAC), who blew the game open with a 19-4 run to start the second half. Chris Johansen led the Rangers (5-12, 2-11) with 18 points.

GUNNISON — Sean Armstrong scored 20 for the Orediggers (14-3, 10-3 RMAC), who led by 19 points in the second half over WSC (5-13, 4-9).

OGDEN , Utah — The Bears (10-9) have won four straight games for the first time since the 2007-08 season and are 5-1 in the Big Sky for the first time since joining the league for the 2006-07 season.
UNC had five players in double figures for the second straight game, with sophomore forward Lauren Oosdyke pacing the effort with 20 points.

PROVO, Utah — The Cougars (12-7, 4-1 Mountain West Conference) started the second half on a 13-2 run to turn a six-point lead into a commanding advantage, and the Rams (9-9, 2-3) couldn’t regain momentum.

ALAMOSA — Jasmine Cervantez’s layup with 0.1 seconds left gave the Roadrunners (16-1, 12-1 RMAC) the win over the Grizzlies (12-7, 7-6) and allowed them to stay in a first-place tie with Colorado Christian and Fort Lewis.
