A man and woman were killed today when their Jeep was hit head-on by a Mercedes that swerved into their lane in a curve in northwest Douglas County.

A 3-year-old survived the crash. The woman driving the Mercedes had injuries that the Colorado State Patrol described as non-life-threatening.

No names have been released, pending notification of family. No charges were immediately filed.

The collision of the two sport-utility vehicles closed U.S. Highway 85 at Titan Road in northwest Douglas County for more than four hours for an investigation.

The crash happened at 4:12 p.m. Troopers said the Mercedes was going south when it ran off the road then swerved back into the northbound lane, hitting the Jeep, troopers said.

The man driving the Jeep was airlifted to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood. The woman and child were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

The woman driving the Mercedes was also taken to Swedish.
