The Wailers will play “Uprising” in its entirety at the Fox Theatre on Saturday and at the Ogden Theatre on Sunday. Long gone are the days when the Jamaican collective is simply considered Bob Marley’s backing band (the group has toured consistently since the singer’s passing in 1981). “Uprising” is the final studio album that Marley made with the Wailers, one year before he succumbed to cancer, and it has its place in the canon of not only reggae but pop music as a whole. Anchored by hits like “Could You Be Loved” and “Redemption Song,” the record is a deeper exploration of life and mysticism than most “stoner” music is given credit for. Songs like “Pimper’s Paradise” and “Forever Loving Jah” strike a particularly emotional chord and will be a treat to hear in a hazy room full of serious Marley fans. Tickets are available through and Ticketmaster.
Norm MacDonald has had a relatively modest career since he left “Saturday Night Live” in 1998. Aside from a string of ’90s cult comedies like “Billy Madison” and “Dirty Work,” MacDonald has found his greatest success on stage with a mic. His deadpan, shifty-eyed delivery and general disinterest in making people happy are definitely more appealing than they sound. Catch MacDonald tonight and Saturday in Larimer Square. Tickets are $32 and available at .
