ELBERT COUNTY — A pilot survived an air crash when an emergency parachute deployed carrying the crippled aircraft to safety in a dry riverbed Sunday morning, said Cory Stark, director of Elbert County emergency management.
The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Witnesses called 911 after hearing the aircraft and then a crash, Stark said.
“Later there was a 911 call from the pilot stating that he put it down in a dry riverbed,” Stark said.
Stark said he didn’t know the name of the pilot.
