Authorities aren’t yet sure what caused the death Sunday of convicted burglar Tiffany Ann Nobi in a Fort Collins hospital, the Sheriff’s Department said today.

An autopsy was performed today by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office, but the cause of death was inconclusive, a spokeswoman said. Toxicology and other tests will take several more days.

Nobi, 25, had been ill since Jan. 9, when she was taken to the hospital after jail medical staff had trouble waking her, according to the Sheriff’s Department. She was initially thought to have meningitis, but that was later ruled out.

She had been in the jail since Jan. 6, after she was arrested on warrant by Loveland police, because last year a judge revoked her deferred sentence stemming from a 2007 home-burglary conviction. A hearing on her sentence had been scheduled for July 15, 2010, but she failed to appear in court for it, records show.
