RALEIGH, N.C.—North Carolina State coach Tom O’Brien says he’s not planning to have Russell Wilson back at quarterback this fall.

O’Brien said Wednesday during his press conference for signing day that “our plans are he’s not coming back” and “we have to move forward” with Mike Glennon under center.

Wilson was drafted by baseball’s Colorado Rockies last June and will report to spring training later this month, though the native of Richmond, Virginia, has said he is keeping the option open to return to the Wolfpack football team for his senior season.

O’Brien says “the door’s always open” for Wilson to return, but “we can’t just sit here and say we’re going to wait for Russell to come back.”

Wilson led the ACC with averages of 274 yards passing and 307 1/2 total yards for N.C. State (9-4).
