At the recent SnowSports Industries America show in Denver, hundreds of manufacturers unveiled their product designs for next winter. Here is an item from a Colorado company that caught our eye.

Klaus Obermeyer has been in the skiwear business long enough to see many of the styles that were popular in the 1950s and ’60s come back again. So a few items in the line have a retro look and feel. Take the Sascha sweater, with its V-neck and striped detail. But the 91-year-old Obermeyer, who continues to go to work every day (at least when he’s not skiing), is also committed to innovation. That’s why the company is using highly technical fabrics like Cocona in its outerwear. Cocona is a polyurethane laminate made from coconut shells that is waterproof and breathable. It helps keep the wearer warm and dry, so she can stay longer on the slopes. Obermeyer’s Coco jacket in black, $399.50. Suzanne S. Brown
