An American accused of killing two Pakistani civilians last week has a home in Highlands Ranch, and the U.S. State Department is trying to get him released, saying he has diplomatic immunity.

Wednesday afternoon, multiple sources confirmed Raymond Allen Davis has a home in Highlands Ranch. Davis’ security firm also has filed paperwork with the secretary of state’s office to do business in Colorado.

Pakistani authorities are holding Davis on suspicion of killing two civilians Thursday in Lahore. The U.S. State Department is trying to secure Davis’ release on the belief he has diplomatic immunity and that he was acting in self-defense.

News agencies reported Davis was in a car when a pair of men on motorcycles approached and that he opened fire when one pulled a gun.

Denver Post staff writer Joey Bunch contributed to this report.
