Over the past three months 21 bicycles have been stolen from open garages in Boulder homes, police said.

The thefts happened between the hours of 1 and 6 p.m. and both high-priced and clunker bikes have been swiped, the Boulder Police Department said in a media release.

The area of the city hit hardest by the thefts is bounded by: Arapahoe Avenue, South Boulder Road, 30th Street and 55th Street.

Police said residents should take precautions, including simply closing garage doors, to protect property and reduce the chances of becoming crime victims.

There are no descriptions of suspects at this time, police said.

Anyone with information on the bike thefts is asked to call Sgt. Rob Bustrum at 303 441-3484.
