DENVER—A weekend storm has dropped up to 19 inches of snow in the Colorado mountains and along the Front Range, triggering chain requirements on Interstate 70 and other mountain highways.
The National Weather Service reported 19 inches of snow by Sunday afternoon near Connifer, about 15 miles southwest of Denver. Four inches of new snow was reported in Carbondale in western Colorado.
Ski resorts in Vail and Silverton reported 18 inches of snow in the past 24 hours. Breckenridge reported 10 inches.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said tire chains were required on trucks and buses on sections of I-70.
Chains were also required on trucks and buses on sections of U.S. 550 in southwest Colorado
