DENVER—The former chairman of Denver Republicans and the state party’s legal counsel has decided to run for state GOP chairman.

The Denver Post reports that Ryan Call sent a letter to Republican leaders Tuesday saying he’s running now that Dick Wadhams has decided not to seek a third term.

Call’s strongest competition is expected to be state Sen. Ted Harvey of Highlands Ranch.

Wadhams notified the state GOP Central Committee Monday that he wasn’t running in a reversal of last month’s announcement that he would seek another term as state party chief. In a memo, Wadhams said he was grateful for the support of a majority of Republicans, but added that he was tired of those who don’t understand the state party’s role.
