Happy Birthday, Leontyne Price
Born in Lowell, Miss., in 1927, soprano Leontyne Price made the rounds of opera’s top-tier venues (Covent Garden, La Scala) before a victorious debut at the New York’s Metropolitan Opera in January 1961 singing Il Trovatore — where she garnered an ovation that lasted 35 minutes. She’s turning 84 tomorrow. Anyone for an Opera cocktail?

From Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s Guide. Makes 1 drink.
Ingredients
2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce Dubonnet
1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
1 dash orange bitters
Directions
Stir with ice, and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
