FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Andy Ogide scored 17 points as Colorado State avenged an earlier season loss to New Mexico with a 68-62 victory Saturday night.

Greg Smith added 14 and Adam Nigon had 13 for Colorado State (17-7, 7-3 Mountain West). The Rams, winners of four of their last five, lost 68-61 to the Lobos on Jan. 12 in Albuquerque and had lost eight straight to New Mexico.

Dairese Gary and Kendall Williams had 16 points each for New Mexico (17-8, 5-5), which saw its four-game winning streak end.

New Mexico hurt itself with 6-for-25 3-point shooting. The Lobos trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half but got within 63-60 on Cameron Bairstow’s first 3-pointer of the season with 43 seconds left.

Gary made two free throws to keep the Lobos as close as 65-62, but turned the ball over after the Rams’ Jesse Carr made 1 of 2 free throws and Dorian Green sealed the win with two more from the foul line.

The Rams led 47-29 on Ogide’s second 3-pointer of the game early in the second half. Gary, who was held scoreless in the teams’ first meeting, closed the gap to 53-44 and began New Mexico’s comeback bid with 15:42 left. The Lobos held Colorado State to three field goals and a free throw over the next seven minutes and Gordon’s short hook shot made it a 56-50 game. Ogide had a two-handed dunk that put Colorado State up 63-55.

Ogide had 10 points by halftime the Rams held New Mexico to 32 percent shooting and led 36-22 at the break.

The Lobos trailed 14-12 after Williams made a short jumper with 14:24 left in the first half. They missed their next 14 shots, turned the ball over four times and Colorado State went on a 15-0 run to lead 29-12.

New Mexico got to within 31-20 on Bairstow’s tip. Ogide’s trey and two free throws by Greg Smith in the last 1:46 of the half pushed the Rams’ lead to 14 points.
