More than 40 Denver firefighters responded to a warehouse fire at Mountain Man Welding at 2115 W. 14th Ave. tonight after receiving multiple calls from passers-by who heard several explosions and saw heavy smoke from Interstate 25.
“It looked very impressive,” said Lt. Phil Champagne of the Denver Fire Department.
It took firefighters 22 minutes to douse the blaze, which was reported just before 8 p.m.
The fire caused no injuries and remains under investigation. But Champagne said it appeared that roofing tar may have ignited from a tear-off operation and the fire then spread into the warehouse.
