Denver’s weather has again decided to remind residents that it isn’t time to break out their sweaters just yet.

The city tied the warmest daily record for Oct. 6 when thermometers hit 87 degrees Tuesday, according to the . The record was last set in 2020.

The record-tying high is the second this week. Temperatures also reached 87 degrees on Monday, tying the daily record high for Oct. 5 set in 2024.

Denver typically sees high temperatures in the low 70s in early October, according to agency data. The highest temperature the city has ever recorded in October was 90 degrees on Oct. 1, 1892, according to NWS meteorologist David Barjenbruch.

Record highs aren’t as likely the rest of the week, Barjenbruch said, but warmer-than-usual temperatures are expected to linger into the weekend, thanks to a “large and warm ridge of high pressure” that’s sitting over Colorado.

Forecasters expect highs to stick around in the 80s through Saturday before temperatures dip slightly into the 70s through Monday and into the high 60s on Tuesday.
