A 28-year-old Keenesburg man has been arrested for allegedly firing shots down an alley at a car that drove by him.
The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Birch Street in Hudson, according to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office media release.
Jose Jair Garcia was alone in his silver 2006 Nissan Sentra when he pulled to the side of a road to allow a red coupe to pass, the sheriff’s office said. The passing car turned down an alley and Garcia got out of his Sentra and fired “several” shots from a handgun, the release said.
A pickup truck and a home were hit by the gunfire. No one was injured. The victim left the area and told a sheriff’s deputy who was on patrol about the incident.
A detective working on the case spotted Garcia at about 7:25 p.m. in the Sentra near his Keenesburg home and tried to stop him but the car took off, the sheriff’s office said.
Garcia abandoned the Sentra and fled on foot, the sheriff’s office said, but deputies and a dog tracked him back to his home, where he was arrested.
He is being held at the Weld County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, felony criminal mischief, felony eluding, and resisting arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect and victim know each other, but the sheriff’s office did not release a motive in the case.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the the sheriff’s office at 970 356-4015 ext. 2825.
