The Rapids on Tuesday signed two players to its roster, including former Metro State star Steven Emory, a longshot rookie walk-on during the MLS preseason.
Colorado also signed former draft pick Mike Holody.
Emory, a 6-foot-2 midfielder, was a first-team All-American for the Division II Road Runners last season. He was twice named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the year and notched 17 goals and 10 assists last season. He also played at Fort Collins High and club ball for Colorado’s Rush.
The Rapids invited Emory to their preseason camp as a non-roster player.
Holody, who holds the University of Michigan record for minutes played, was a fourth-round draft choice of Colorado’s in 2009. He played in four games for the team that season, but was waived before the 2010 season.
The Rapids roster now stands at 25 players. MLS policy allows for rosters with as many as 30 players, but only 18 are allowed on a game-day sheet.
