SÃO PAULO — Brazilian police say a passenger bus collided head-on with a lumber truck in the southern state of Santa Catarina, killing at least 25 people. More than 20 were seriously injured.

Highway police officer Rosangela Ogioni said the accident happened early Saturday near the town of Descanso. She said the truck driver apparently lost control of his vehicle on a curve and slammed into the bus, which was carrying 47 passengers.
