HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The University of Denver women’s basketball team held a 50-49 lead with 7:21 to play, but Western Kentucky ended the game on a 16-7 run Sunday to pull off an upset in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

Junior forward Kaetlyn Murdoch scored 19 points and had four steals for the Pioneers (19-11).

DU shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) from the floor. Western Kentucky (14-16) shot 23-of-52 (44.2 percent).

“As with all season, our players did a great job. But Western Kentucky deserves all the credit in this case,” DU coach Erik Johnson said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jon Diebler shot 7-of-8 on 3-pointers while scoring 27 points as the Buckeyes (29-2, 16-2 Big Ten) beat the Badgers (23-7, 13-5).

Ohio State set two NCAA records, hitting 93.3 percent from 3-point range (14-of-15) and following a miss on its first attempt with 14 straight 3s. The previous record for consecutive 3-pointers made was 11 by Niagara in 1987.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Brandon Knight scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half for the Wildcats (22-8, 10-6 SEC).
