LOVELAND, Colo.—A longtime Loveland bakery and delicatessen plans to reopen after settling with the state over delinquent taxes.
The Loveland Reporter Herald reports that bakery owner Harry Schmidt met with employees Wednesday to say the business would reopen Thursday.
State revenue agents seized Schmidt’s March 2. State officials say the business owed more than $24,000 in sales and payroll withholding taxes.
Colorado Department of Revenue spokesman Mark Couch says the agency adjusted the amount to about $21,000.
The owners say they got behind on the taxes because they didn’t make business decisions quickly enough. Schmidt’s has 35 employees.
City officials closed the bakery briefly last March when Schmidt’s didn’t settle a tax deficiency.
