Two young men were killed and another seriously injured Friday morning when their speeding truck slammed into a 200,000-pound parked railroad car at in a dead-end street in Fort Morgan.

Police said it appears the crash occurred about 3 a.m., near Prospect Street and East Railroad Avenue. The accident was not discovered until employees of area businesses arrived for work just before 6:45 a.m.

The driver of the truck has been identified as Justin Moss, 16, of Wiggins. The second passenger who died was identified as Michael Aguirre, 22, of Fort Morgan. One of the responding officers said it appeared at first that all three men were dead, but then officers saw one man move. That passenger, William Mull, 18, was conscious and speaking to ambulance workers when he was transported to a hospital.

Police believe the truck was headed south on Prospect Street from East Railroad Avenue and said in a release that it doesn’t appear the driver applied the brakes before hitting the parked railroad car. The Denver Post
