New York dance-pop devotees Scissor Sisters scrapped their third album before it was even released, despite having labored over it for more than a year. It’s impossible to know if the shelved material was better than “Night Work,” last summer’s all-new collection produced by Stuart Price (Madonna, the Killers), but it also doesn’t matter. The flamboyant nu-disco vibe that has always defined the band developed into a satisfyingly ’80s-indebted sound, as the Sisters proved with a stellar Ogden Theatre set in September. The band returns Sunday. $32.50-$38. Ticketmaster.

Craig Ferguson has frequently cast his “Late Late Show” on CBS as a bit of an underdog, but the Scottish-born comedian and writer did something few expected when he assumed the captain’s chair from Craig Kilborn in 2005. His silly, subtly subversive humor accidentally won him a loyal audience and loads of critical love — a testament to his loose, easy charm and impressive consistency as a host. He brings a lot of what makes that show work to his stand-up act, which returns to Denver for a series of sold-out shows through Sunday at Comedy Works’ Larimer Square location.
