HUGO, Colo.—Charges have been filed against the wife of a man suspected of fatally shooting a police officer in eastern Colorado.
Prosecutors said 49-year-old Jackie Hasty was charged Wednesday with reckless manslaughter and being an accessory to a crime, both felonies.
Authorities say Hasty was home in Limon March 9 when 27-year-old police officer Jay Sheridan was fatally shot trying to serve a warrant to her husband, 52-year-old Dennis Mark Hasty.
Investigators haven’t said what Hasty is accused of doing and the court has sealed the case.
Dennis Hasty was wanted on a sex offender registry violation from Roane County in Tennessee. Authorities say he fatally shot himself after a four-hour standoff with police.
Jackie Hasty, who’s being held on $250,000 bond, is due in court March 22 for an advisement hearing.
