DENVER—Firefighters are mopping up a small wildfire near the Poudre Canyon in northern Colorado.
Authorities said Friday that a 17-acre fire near Greyrock Mountain in the Roosevelt National Forest has been fully contained.
Fire managers warn that dry, warm weather has boosted the fire danger to above average in Colorado.
Wildfires aren’t uncommon this time of year, but officials say there have been several the last few weeks. The largest burned 622 acres in the mountains west of Boulder last week and prompted the evacuation of more than 200 homes.
There have also been several grass fires on the eastern plains. The Gazette reported that a blaze in the Black Forest area in El Paso County destroyed a barn and burned close to a house Thursday.
