A 16-year-old San Luis Valley boy facing premeditated-murder charges in the deaths of his mother and stepfather in 2009 has reached a plea deal with prosecutors, 9News reported Thursday.
John Caudle was 14 when Tracy and Joanne Rinebarger were found shot to death in their Monte Vista home. He was charged as an adult.
His lawyers had indicated they would argue Caudle was abused, including that his mother would withhold food from him as a punishment.
A hearing is planned for next week so that Judge Martin Gonzales can consider the proposed plea agreement, 9News reported.
