Two people killed in what investigators think was a murder-for- hire were stabbed multiple times and each was shot once, according to the Douglas County coroner’s office.
The bodies of Robert Rafferty Jr., 49, and Amara Wells, 39, were found last month in Rafferty’s home southwest of Castle Rock.
Wells, whose estranged husband, Christopher B. Wells, 38, is one of four charged in the deaths, was stabbed five times and shot once in the head. Rafferty suffered three stab wounds and was shot in the chest. He also appears to have been beaten, with blunt-force injuries to the top of his head, two missing teeth and one fractured tooth.
